Tunze stream 3 6150 for a 180 ?

Need to upgrade my 13 yr old streams and was wondering about whether the 6150 will be overkill for my 180 SPS reef. Any input much appreciated!

I run 2 x stream 3 and 2x 6105. I find the 6105s have better flow compared to stream 3.both are very very quiet.
Tank is 7ftx2x2

I was concerned that the flow might be too much for a 180.Pookie, what coral do you have. That's a tremendous amount of flow. Do you use the deflectors for the 6105's?

I'm not running these at full blast! These are controlled by my Profilux set at 25%.
But when I run them at 100%, that's an astonishing sight!
If I was given a choice between 6105 and 6150 - I might go with four 6105's, even though the tech is awesome in 6150.
Don't get me wrong- 6150 is awesome but it's unsightly and you would need careful positioning
Mixed reef - a bit of pain at times to tailor the flow for LpS

Yes I use deflectors on 6150 and wider nozzle on 6105.

Any input on choice between apex controller and tunze controller for the streams? I know they are apex compatible.

No idea about Apex but I control mine using Profilux. I have only used the stock controller for a few days- it looks good.
Even in external control mode the Main Power on the cotroller still control the pump power

The old 6100 tunze are great power heads they run forever but they are large and unsightly , kinda like Shrek, I turn my up on my 120 and they can blast the water out.

Like spookie stated the 6105 are better easier to aim, you can check with slief about Apex programs he has a very complex one that he uses.

If you are getting a euro brace tank also get some Sea Swirls, place those on a separate DC controllable pump, not your return. Bubble King or Eco Tech pump.
