Gen 2 Pro (if I remember correctly), about 10 inches from surface in a hood. I used the wide angle lens which helped a little, just too many hot spots, weird growth etc. Seems those with a degree of success have the lights up higher and lots of them. Also, it just never looked "natural" to me. The flexibility was awesome initially, though for me, once the novelty wore off, wasn't enough to keep trying. I even crammed some T-5 in there in an effort to 'succeed'. Liking the Reefbrite 10-20 400w a lot now!

This is where I'm at....
Convenience. No bulb replacements. Others doing great with them. Tunability.
My tank is floundering. Added T5s. Helped a little.

I haven't ruled everything out yet, but I remember things being a lot easier with halides. Makes me feel like a failure and a quitter, but the reality of the time I have to dedicate to Reef keeping isn't what it once was. Halides seem to provide a little bit of a cushion. LEDs make you pay a price for any missteps IME.

I'm about 2 years on radions. I had better success with t5. Finding the right program for radions is a process. I've tried all kinds of schedules.

The best success that I had was a single gen2 radion over my frag tank running only the default 20k. But... I've never been able to repeat that success. My best results since then have been with my3 Gen3 Pros over my redsea reefer 525 using the SPS/LPS deep water schedule in this link, mixing in 2 hours of the SPS AB+ schedule in this link.

It also seems like any coral that I introduce needs to be on the sand for a few days and then gradually raise in the water column, otherwise I get bleaching and RTN. My max intensity is also 45%. Anything over that and I start having issues.

I stomached a lot of coral loss and frustration getting to this point.

Oh, my temp is 79. I have my heaters set to range from 77-79. I haven't needed a chiller down here in Tampa yet because I have my AC set to "New York transplant"

I use a dual ranco to control my heaters and canopy fan. Canopy is open topped covered in plastic hardware mesh; i use a box fan laying face down. Ranco is industrial grade. I would be surprised if it strayed much at all measuring temps.
