Bleached Coral Recovery Time...
I have a blue tip staghorn that bleached (except the blue tips). The polyps are still extended and I target feed it cyclopeeze twice a week.
In optimal conditions how long will it take a typical bleached stag to recover? Days, Months, Years, Centuries, millenia...LOL. Alex |

Typically recovery times for Acropora after severe bleaching are on the order of at least a month if not two. Feeding will definitely help as will ensuring good water flow. Slight shading may also help recovery.
And by "recovery" here I mean the time needed for the coral to regain normal zoox. density/pigment density. In order to fully "recover" from the physiological stress of bleaching it could be a few months more to well over a year. For example, spawning a year after a bleaching event can be ruined or very screwed up due to bleaching the previous year. It can take at least a year for some corals to fully regain their lipid reserves. Chris

It depends on your tank condition. But usually you start seeing some color come back within a month. And hopefully by 3 three months you've got your color back.

I electrocuted a few colonies during a move ~90 days ago(dog+powerstrip=trouble). Bone white afterwards, but all survived and are now growing and doing well again but still haven't gotten back tip color etc. Flow and low light...
