acid to water not the other way around....and make sure you wear acid proof face mask and gloves...plain old rubber gloves wont cut it for more than a second.

For cooking the rock, yeah that's the way I did it and then cycled/cured them for almost 4 months. They read 0 on all tests at point of putting them in the tank

Acans i've never kept i'm afraid and i only have one chalice. I've never spot fed, just the Reef Energy that i supplement the tank with. I also don't have the best growth with mine, so not spot feeding could be a cause. Doing some quick reading on liveaquaria specimens it does mention spot feeding mysis etc.

no much help. sorry Corey!

Just got some of a CUC ordered in a group buy from reefcleaners. Few new frags, I'll take some pictures and post. But right now most of my excitement is in "newbie's" new tank set up. Stoked for him!

I keep my Radiums about 12-15 above the waterline.

As for my new setup I am just trying to finish the plumbing and finishing the rock structures and then see from there. Now back to your build. Where are the pics?

My 2, 250w Radiums are about 12" off the water. I think a lot depends on the reflector. I use Lumen Bright Minis. I'd just base it off your spread since you have such a large footprint.

Not in this house Wayne, that would be the other house, but this one is better for old folks. I looked for quite a while to find one of these reflectors, it is doing great on the 40x40 footprint running a single 250 watt Radium as opposed to the dual 150's on it before.

Corey, isn't it camera time?

Jack, I'm actually getting ready to pull the trigger on a good camera. then I'll have great photos to share!
Got a few things done today tho, lunch with a Classmate(this is only 1/2 the sandwich)
Then picked up my manifold from savko. It's a great idea I think and takes up way less space than most,

Why gates on some of the outputs but ball valves on the larger two?

Ball valves(larger ones) are the return lines. Gate valves on others for carbon, ca rx, and whatever else I might need down the road. The gate valves will allow for finer control of those items where my return I don't need such fine control. Then the other valve that is ball is just extra as well. Might run it back into the sump. Use it to help with water changes or something.
