I don't run Nopox but I do carbon dose with a combination of vodka and vinegar. I am somewhat skeptical that Nopox does something more/different that vodka/vinegar dosing but, it may have its advantages.
In terms of carbon dosing in general, not sure what your phosphate/nitrate levels are but, remember, the goal shouldn't be zero. I drove my phosphate/nitrate too far down and ended up with a nasty cyano outbreak. When I dealt with that, I started to get some dinos. I dialed by my carbon dosing and things mostly cleared up. I still get some cyano. Big picture. We put nutrients in a lit box and things will grow. Feed new bacteria with carbon dosing and the balance of what is growing in your tank will shift. This shift can help or hurt, depending on your specific circumstances. Moderate carbon dosing seems to have helped my tank overall but, seems to have left me with a little bit of persistent cyano. I ran NoPox on system for almost a year before I tore the tank down. I personally liked it and seen great results with my tank.....but (there's always a but lol) until I found the correct dosage in the beginning I did experience the cyano and dinos process Matt spoke of. Just follow the directions to a T.
