I have never witness the cloud cover mode. My lights went off completely and now are turning back on. Is this the cloud effect?

Radions can rule if used correctly..
That's what it sounds like to me. The first time I saw the cloud cover I got a little freaked out! Then I realized it was about the time of day I programmed clouds at. A little gimmicky, but cloud cover is something that happens naturally.. I ended up taking them out, but I'm also glad I still have the option to program them back in...

If you read thru this thread you see that I’m running a 500 gallon tank 108x40x27 with 12 Radions over it. Tank is mixed SPS-LPS. late December my 500 tank had cycled and was ready for coral. Some coral were frags some were colony’s.
I started lights out at 45% and slowly ramped them up to 100% all colors for a total of 6 hours. The SPS corals grew like crazy. Most of my brown corals bleached with this much light. My pinks and reds were faded. Most of my LPS were suffering from too much light. While my livestock was in garage (and is still in garage) I cut my light cycle way back. Royal blue and blue are 100% for 8 hours. I use the 20k setting at 90% for 3 hours. It’s hard to see the growth it’s only been about 2 months. But the color is amazing. All the SPS are really coloring back up with these settings. Reds are bright pink, blues are deep blue, pinks are pink. LPS are looking better. I think with lights at 100% for 6 hours was just too much My tank was built by A.G.E. Tank had a few visual defects in glass. A.G.E. has great customer service and stands behind their product. They came to my house and picked up my tank. All my live stock is in garage in Rubbermaid stock tanks one 300 gallon, one 100 gallon, and one 100 gallon for rocks. All is tied into sump. I will try to get some pics up next weekend.

All it is. Is I take two hours to ramp the blues up to 100%.then at 11 lights are up to 20 k settings. Then at night I ramp blues down.

That should be fine. I run two over my 120 gal with good results. You would just be a little deeper. I don't run mine over 80%, so there should still be a little power left to penetrate the extra depth.
I run mine length wise about 8" over the water. My tank is euro braced, so one light over each side. |

HAs there been any talk around new LED clusters maybe taking out 1 red and 1 green and adding a couple UV. I know Eco doesnt talk too much about future things but just curious.

Because of the further advancement of color spectrum? A lot of competitors are adding them as well.

a 6' 150g? or a 4' 150g?
I would go w/ 3 over a 6' 150g. I have 2 over my 3' 150g, but will add a 3rd in the future b/c it will be a heavy sps tank. I think 2 would work over a 4' 150g accordingly, but a 3rd would help if it's going to be a heavy sps tank.

David,
Do you have the TIR lenses? IF so, how do you like them? If not, are you planning on purchasing them? I'm on the fence. I have a 90 with 2 lights and I plan on picking up a 3rd to go over my tank... Things are going well in my aquarium with the new lights and I'm not sure I want to make any changes. Some of my Acans and LPS died and bleeched with the lights as they are... not sure I need more power. Thoughts? |
