protein skimmer

I looking for a new protein skimmer for my tank... Was looking at the MSX200 but also ran across the red sea c-skim 1800... I have a 240 gallon tank, 55 gallon sump and refuge and a 36 gallon frag tank all connected together... If anyone can give me some ideas on a good skimmer that would be great... Price is up in the air right now... Would like to keep it around 300 but i want something that i don't have to mess with much so i could go up a little more... Thanks in Advance...

There is a reason no one runs the red sea. For a nicely stocked 240 check out the sro xp cones or an msx/swc with an askoll pump.

For that $ you will not get anything better than msx or cskim, so if you like them, i would suggest you to buy any of these two you mentioned. They are both in same range (i think that both use psk pump), but neck washing system on Cskim sounds like very nice and useful feature (if you have time to turn it on often).

For a 240g tank you might consider stepping up the skimmer to a 250A or 300A. I recently bought a 300A for my planned 260g. Currently it's breaking in on my 150g tank.

The MSX 250A is currently on sale as they clearance them out for $499. You won't find a better bang for the buck.

Hal I am considering the 300A for my marineland 250DD build and was wondering about noise, heat, build quality.

Well, I've only had it for a week, and it's still in the break-in period. Build quality seems to be fine. No complaints there. Noise is minimal, but it is in a basement fish room, so I don't pay a lot of attention to that. Heat seems to be minimal too. I switched from an external skimmer pump to this internal one, and don't notice any difference in the water temp.

Free shipping with coupon code "skimmer".

They have had that special running for a while now. I would jump on it if you can.

IMO that is the skimmer for your system.
