pH probe suggestions.

I have AC3Pro. Temp, pH, ORP, Conductivity. I recently got a calcium reactor up and running. I would like to monitor the pH by using a second probe. The issue is now that in order to do that its $160 for the PX100, and $45 for a pH probe. What else would the PX100 be good for that warrants the $205 + shipping for a pH monitor.

I could justify the cost if I could have the controller at the tank and the px1000 in the sump room 35 feet away. But as it seems now is that the px1000 can only be 5 feet away. So it seems inconvenient to relocate the entire setup downstairs just to watch the reactor.

Please can anyone else in this situation tell me the pros and cons?
