Onyx Spawn #12 (March 9, 2012)

What a FANTASTIC looking clutch!

Spawn #11 hatched on Saturday and is now 6 Days Post Hatch. The already appear to be undergoing meta and I've had very minimal losses.

It's been a month since I purchased those two tiny BTA's and I thought I'd update on their progress. They got big.

I have neglected this thread. Sorry about that!

The clutch that hatched back on November 4, 2011 looks great. I'll let the pictures and video do the talking...

Those are the same juveniles that were in my post back in Feb. That is just one of several pairs that I put together that are quickly approaching adulthood themselves.

I collected three additional clutches on March 10, 17 and 30. All of those juveniles have hit the 6 month mark but look significantly better than the previous 6 month old clowns.

I started supplementing all feedings with a frozen cyclopseeze and it brings out a noticeable amount of red in the fish. This color enhancement seems to impact the juveniles much more than the adults. I'll have to take some pictures tomorrow to show you what I mean.

Thanks for digging this up! I'll keep on it!

I currently have two breeding pairs. Picassos and Onyx. That's enough for me right now but I have a local friend who has a spawning pair of really nice looking Saddlebacks. Not a lot of breeders have had success with Saddlebacks so I might have to raise a clutch or two.

Could you tell me what kind of cyclopeeze you are feeding your young?

I just got back into the hobby after a 3 year break and the frozen cyclopeeze I've found is all a very dull orange color. 3 years ago the stuff was almost blood red and came in what looked like big popcycle packages.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have the same terrible looking cyclopseeze in my freezer and I'll never use it.

You want the twin pack of PE Mysis and Cyclopseeze (Piscine Energetics). I assume they make a single pack but my LFS only carried the combo pack. That's the stuff I'm using.

Xmas came early this year and the girlfriend got me the 2nd best gift anyone could possibly ever give a reef geek... a MP10w ES!

I will never, ever, ever buy another powerhead/wavemaker again. This is hands down the most fun I've had with a piece of hardware. I'm going to have to buy a MP40 for my 90 as soon as my budget allows.

I saved a custom, auto-tuned wave for the Ecosmart Nutrient Transport Mode and I programmed Night Mode to engage an hour after lights out. Love it.

Quick video of the Onyx and their BTA's enjoying the new wave action. And the clutch on day 5.
