skimmer problem

MY bak pak skimmer is having issues. It is not making many bubbles. it seems it has phases where it will be powerful one month then poor the next month. I took apart and cleaned the powerhead (maxijet 1200) and still no resolution. Any ideas? also, I was wondering if its possible to upgrade the powerhead would this do any good? if so what is a power head that would fit the bakpak? Thanks

check the intake hose. It probably has some salt creep.

Is this a CPR brand skilter? If so, check the intake holes right on the pump that powers the skimmer. Aside from the intake hose that provides the air, there is a tiny hole near the air intake that can get clogged with detritus, food, small snails, etc.

What I usually do is take the intake hose and place it in a cup of ro/di with the skimmer running. It will suck in the water and disolve the saltcreep in the venturi. Do it once, wait 10-15 minutes and do it again.
