Let me redo that whole statement. In the final analysis, I have found that the EG lights provide what I need for the price I like. I considered a photon 48, but for the price difference, I could see no value. Thanks for all the input. M

MikeyAl, I have two EG IT2080 fixtures (32") and an IT2060 (24") that I had EG do a custom led layout when I got them 3+ years ago. Other than changing the light schedule, I've never had any issues. I'm considering the new ReefBreeders Photon 32-V2 because I think the remote can set all 3 fixtures at the same time. I also like the idea of having each color on a separate channel, but that's more of a bonus and not a big issue. The V2 is also a bit more blue than my custom design that was done 3+ years ago.
How big is your tank (width and length)?

Interesting. I was going to make a final decision today- the EG lights on eBay just jumped from $286 to $496 for 2 "16 units - overnight. Wth.

That blows...
As far as output: Mars Aqua: 103w Other WiFi brands: 110w Evergrow WiFi: 120w They other WiFi brands seem a little better quality than Mars Aqua. I was noticing that the other WiFi enabled units are all the same as the Evergrow in terms of LED colors and placement. The Evergrow comes with a wifi antenna as opposed to a built-in antenna with a switch. (I assume the antenna would get better range the further away it is from the router). The switches, dimmer knobs, and fan color are the only other differences I see. Oh, and maybe a different app to control it all. It probably wouldn't hurt to ask if you could buy the Evergrow at the last advertised price.

Thanks. I did send them a message. Hopefully I will hear back
I personally don't care about the wifi. Is the ramping feature really necessary? |

In these units, the only way to get the ramping feature is with Wi-Fi.
First off, in order to use it, you need to have a smartphone and a wireless home internet router. The light needs an internet connection in order to utilize the Wi-Fi functions. It's really neat when you can adjust the lighting from anywhere on your phone. Useful if you go out of town. Since there are no reasonably cheaper priced lights with a screen to program these days, the wifi models apparently have replaced it if you want ramping features. Honestly, you will never use the lightning function except for the first few weeks and to show friends. Other than cool factor, it's rather useless. The cloud settings are only useful if it has very detailed settings (ie. Comes on every other hour for x minutes as opposed to manually turned either on or off) The ramping feature is definitely worth it in my book. It allows a longer viewing period as it ramps up to the actual photo period. Plus, it replicates nature. The sun doesn't just turn on and off, it's a gradual change. There biggest thing is the fish. If the light gets turned on instantly from complete darkness, my fish go nuts and freak out. They usually hide behind rocks and are very skittish until they adjust (10-15min). They don't experience this with the gradual ramping feature. My light sensitive bta's also appreciate the ramping. It's less of a shock for the critters.

Okay. So that limits my options. The Mars Aqua and Ocean Revive are dimmable but no wifi and no ramping. The popular grow has wifi but does not state a ramping feature.
At the price now for the EverGrow I am better off getting the reef reeder photon 48 (used for 385.00) |

So did anyone ever figure out if Ocean Revive was still in business? I know there was a thread about it not long ago.

What's your plan for hanging/mounting them?

What do you guys think about these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-Dimmabl...YAAOSw5dNWquJR
Just a little more $$$ tahn Mars and they have a built-in timer. I can't really tell if it ramps power or its just a regular on-off timer. |

Here is another. Looks like same light with a different name but it does show a little more information on the programmable timer function, and its a little cheaper.

As I was researching I also came across the DSunY. I read lots of negative posts- lights don't work, bad customer service, lousy manufacturing. I stayed away for that reason. Where there's smoke there's fire - yes? |

Haha, I didn't even notice the retarded layout..
What might be even funnier is the reflectors are the 60° Flood lenses from a led light bar you would mount to the roof of your truck.. Lmao

So Sam. Here is my final question. So here is my question: the Mars Aqua are not programmable at all correct? So on and off. No moonlights. So I would need a different light to run moonlights? |

That is correct.
They are dimmable with separate dimmer knobs, one for each channel, but no ramping feature. Either on or off manually with the switch or leave it on and plugged into a timer. If you're electrically inclined. I am to some extent, I've been known to zap myself on occasion.. Fun story - not sure why, but I thought I could use a pair of scissors next to me to try and remove a prong that broke off a plug in a surge protector and didn't think to unplug it. Lol that was an eye opener! Or the time I tried to pull out a broken Christmas light by pinching the filament and forgot to unplug the lights first. Anyways, be smart about it. You can take the case apart and wire in your own 1w or 3w LED's with a separate power supply and run the cord out the back of the case for the moonlights. There's plenty of room inside. Something like this I plan on taking mine apart and completely rearranging all the LED's as soon as the new LED's get here that I ordered. Don't like the layout of my new one.. What happened to the kessils?
