Wish I had a photo of this, but it's worth posting without one anyway.

So Friday night I see Tim rearanging/reinforcing his doorway from inside the den. That's the official sign that he has finished molting and will be out and about hunting again in the morning; I had my work cut out for me. What with Tim molting and all (and taking his sweet time about it too, I might add) I had taken a somewhat lax position on cleaning his tank. The diatomes and dinos had been having a party so the filter was ready for a swap and the glass needed cleaning and some macro needed pruning, etc... SO, I get to work, in the morning...

I get up pretty early on the weekends and needed to move a few things to the main-tanks new sump/'fuge (which I still hate) and scrubbed all the glass in Tim's tank, moved the rockwork back into it's proper places (never touching his home-stone) and remove a few empties lying about (I'm going to have to entice Tim into eating that damn whelk) when a little motion catches my eye and I get my first glance at Tim in over a week. He looks huge. His color is good. His third antennae looks more full. He just generally looks in really great shap for the one-eyed sissy that he is. So I'm giving him a good eye-balling at he kind of cocks his head to the side and advances on the glass. His raps go out to the side. His thorax raises up and his antennae all spread out. I see a little caption-bubble appear above him, "You lookin' at me?!"

Alright, so I didn't really see the caption-bubble, but that doesn't change the fact that he was giving me attitude about looking in on 'his' tank. He was threatening me!!!

If it wasn't Tim it may have worked too, but I know he's a sissy... might have to drain his tank for a bit to teach him a lesson...

I wish there were more stories about this tale, very good narrative indeed. I can't wait to hear more and maybe catch a few more pics possibly a video too.
I can see it now "Tim: The man to save or to be saved from"
Starring Tim the peacock mantis

Keep it up!

Tim's been hidding this whole past week because he's mad.

I changed the failing filter for a newer (and bigger) model. He hates current. Much easier to keep the tank in order since the water is being cleaned again. Easier to see into the tank as well. That's how I know he's plotting something... his single elongate eye stares out at me from his hide-out which an intense almost tangible malice.

I may have to drain the tank again... he's getting cocky.

Maybe Tim needs a girlfriend. That way he can strut his manly stuff in front of her by killing everything that moves.

It may also calm him down enough (let's hope not too much) so the tank doesn't need to be drained, .

Great story. An absolute pleasure to read (THANKS!!!).

Tim has heard your requests...

He has since ordered me to clean his dwelling before taking more shots (he's become a recluse again and is only willing to come out if he looks his best).

Had to change the filter in his home early on in May due to a mechanical failure... the tank looks horrible at the moment as it continues to adjust.

He still tries daily to write responses back to each and every one of you, but cannot hold his water long enough to clak-it-out on a keyboard and paper doesn't last long in his tank. It's one vicious cycle of a problem. In the interrim he's ordered me (again with the orders) to respond and to let his fans know that he adores you all and will grace these pages again with a story soonish... like maybe Tuesday (since I'm off and he can't take pictures of himself - digi-cam hates water).

His roommate is still a nervous little wrasse who attmepts suicide (poorly and ineffectively) at least once a week by jumping into the light. It's sad really.

Tim has molted again. He grows stronger each time and bigger too of course. He has taken to bashing the bottom-post of a neat surface-skimming adapter to his new aquaclear filter.

He's also officially moved out of his original 'apartment' and dug-out some new digs underneath the remaining rockwork.

He seems genuinely arrogant... er.. excitedly looking forward to a new picture shoot (right after I sand-vac and scrape the glass to full transparency again).

Enjoy!
