Why did my silicone turn bright yellow?
The silicone in my sump that I used (GE without any mold inhibitors) to glue the baffles has slowly turned a super bright fluorescent yellow.
I let it cure for a couple of days before I put any water in it. This happen to anyone else? Do you know why this happens? |

I noticed it on the sump I just built. I haven't notice anything odd with the tank. What is really odd to me is that it was the same stuff I used 2 years ago -- GE II Windows and Door -- and when I say the same stuff I mean the exact same stuff -- same tube. I didn't notice it 2 years ago, so I don't know why it is showing up now.
Not a whole lot of help, but I am not worried about mine, and like I said I have noticed zero ill effects with my tank.

That's strange. I use GE Silicon I: Window & Door and have never had this problem.

Toddrtrex Ge II have mold inhibitor.
Color change could be bacteria

I remember in the old days when the fish meds would permanetly stain all the silicone. The pink on white is a slime mold though.
