I've had my magnifica for half a year now. It wasn't in bad shape when I got it, but it still wasn't happy. I did treat it until it started to look healthy, and it has been doing great ever since.

I've only had this mag for a month and a half now, but it's doing very well, staying right where I put it(I purposely scaped my tank specifically for a mag)
It did deflate when I got it and I treated it in cipro, responded to treatment fairly fast, treated a little over a week and then into display.
My clowns took to it immediately, rarely leave it.

I don't know if it's a pie plate... I know I bought this plate specifically for an H. magnifica back in 2008, but I didn't know about antibiotic treatments and it died. I held onto the plate for 7 years until I was ready to try again at a magnifica. I'm glad I did more research and was prepared.

Anyway, it's just a plate I found at a dollar store that has a wide rim. I liked it because it was wide, a little concaved, but not too much like a bowl. I thought the magnifica would like a somewhat curved surface. BTA's like to anchor their feet in caves so I thought my mag would like something in between. This also keeps the base of the foot from being hit directly by currents from pumps.

Pavlo, I have said this 10 other times in different threads, but your tank is one of the best I have ever seen and I love hearing that it is still doing great

Nice mag. I think mine has exact same coloration

Question for those that have had them for a while... Does the density of tentacles increase with time or just respond to lighting and flow? I've wondered because Pavlo's looks awesome with very thick, uniform tentacles that are somewhat shorter compared to others with more space between them or just longer tentacles.

As promised....albeit late.
My first H.magnifica is the brown based one on the left, higher up. The other is the green monster...The H.magnifica I purchased from a local reefer and fellow RC member, TwiggyB. I've had my original for 10 years now, and the Green Monster for almost 2 years. Green Monster is almost 16 inches across....

I've had this mag for roughly two months now after the 10 Cipro. About 12"-14" across. Attached a couple pics of it eating some salmon and shrimp as well. The purple foot is a Mag I picked up a few days ago that's currently on Cipro and doing well. I'd like to move it to where the big one is as a centerpiece once it's ready. The big one just isn't as colorful.

That is not at all normal. I literally never feed mine and it does just fine.

I have a basketball sized anemone in a mostly sps fish heavy system. I had it about 3 years, but another hobbyist had it longer, and he bought it off another hobbyist. Imo hardier and more predictable than any other anemone. They need lots of light, lots of flow, lots of room, but do great if they have those and reasonable water quality once acclimated. Bta sometimes wander or go downhill even when everything seems perfect for them. I don't think it ever ate a fish, it never split.

Here is mine. I’ve had it for over 5 yrs. they do like high flow up high to the lights and prefer a flat rock to plant its foot. This is my pride and joy. Happy reefing
