2 Pair of Clowns

Hey all, been a good while since my last post. I have a well established 4 year old 120g (48x24x24) I haven't done anything to it in a couple years now.I have only 4 fish, 2 Ocellaris clowns, a yellow tang and a single blue damsel. I've got about a million RBTA and GBTA anemones. I was thinking of adding another pair of clowns. The FAQ states a large tank but doesn't define large. I can say that my current pair do not host any of the anemones but do claim the far left side of the tank. There is plenty of open territory availible.

I would like to find a pair that will actually host the nems. Thoughts??

Everyone may have their own definition of what large tank means, here the large tank forum begins at 180g, but even a 180g there's a good chance there will be fighting w/ more than a pair if not a harem from same clutch.

The clownfish species that use BTAs as a natural host tend to be very aggressive (such as the maroon clownfish).They typically don't tolerate any other clownfish, and once they see other clownfish they'll usually try to drive them away and directly or indirectly kill them. Even in a 120 gallon tank, there's no guarantee that one pair of fish will stay on their side of the tank.

I won't even put two pairs in my 180 gallon

well then I may just re-home this pair and try another pair. They were an impulse buy when I got the tank up and running. What I really wanted was a pair of maroon clowns.

Maroons for sure will take over the tank, they are one of the most territorial of clowns.

I have 2 pair in a 330 gallon, no issues for 4 years bit they are about 10' away from each other, never tried them in my old 120 gallon

Also be warned that Maroons, Clarkiis and Tomatos tend to attack and bite whenever you stick your hands in the tank. They are very territorial and can claim 3/4 of your tank to themselves. That might turn you off.
