To Frag or not to frag?
I have a huge green poylp toadstool that is absolutley thriving in my 28g JBJ nano. Its a beautiful coral and I would love to just keep it the way it is but its just outgrowing the tank. I was wondering if anyone has any suggesitions on if I should frag it up into a bunch of pieces or save a frag for myself and sell it as the monster it is? Im in-between on it. Any suggestions or opinions would be great. What would you do?
Thanks, Kevin

Here's what I'd do:
1) Use this as an excuse to upgrade if I just so happened to have a lot of money to blow. 2) Access the situation (how big we talking here), if I wanted to tank the tank in a new direction/open up some space, then I would sell it. 3) If I was overall happy with how the toadstool looks and just wanted to buy some time (hopefully for that upgrade!) just frag some pieces off to reduce its area and use a tooth pick and a rubber band to keep them on pieces of rubble rock.

Thanks for the responses, Upgrading is most likely not in the near future unfortunately. The toadstool is approx. A foot tall by almost a foot wide if fully extended.

Why don't you just trim it down? Use the trimmings for frags to sell........

Thanks Vinny, hopefully the schedule opens up and I can make it. I have a frag rack set up in the back corner of the tank that holds about 12 plugs. How much is too much? Would it be ok to make like 5 or 6 frags at a time? Keep in mind this has to be fragged in the tank.

I have never fragged anything that large.
Maybe someone else will chime in here. |
