Tunze 9004 Dc

Hi I have a Tunze 9004 dc skimmer running on my 45 Gallon since last 25 days plus however I never see any brown gunk collection in cup , it's mostly water .
Is my skimmer defective ?

Probably the skimmer is not tuned well.

Never had a DC skimmer so cannot help with it. A second reason can be a relatively new tank with nothing to remove.

You tune it by the pump speed on the controller. For reference 50% power is equal to an AC model with air completely open so you will need a speed between 20-50%.

Hi Rvitko ,
The first two weeks I was running it at 50% or lower , now at 70% to 80%
If I reduce to 20%-50% the foam will be very low is that fine ?

There are two foams in a skimmer, air and water that you don't want in the cup, and the thicker protein foam that forms on the top and that is what should go in the cup. If it skims water, you must turn it down.
