I'm really liking this. Although not all 13 hang together as a single group, they do shoal a bit. It will be interesting to see whether all persist or will there be winnowing down. So far, with 13, any minimal aggression is diffused.

@ca1ore - interesting pic. Are they staying within that coral? Do you have any large fish that maybe when it passes they dart in that coral?

Most of them have been staying within the branches of the green slimmer, though not all. No really large fish, Desjardini is the biggest at about 6 inches, though that will change shortly as I have a 9" unicorn in QT. Your question is an insightful one though; I have long held the opinion that the lack of schooling/shoaling behaviour in our tanks is in part due to a lack of predators.

6 weeks later ..... and I can reliably count 12. They may still all be there, hard to count 13 small fish that are always moving. Been very happy with the results and am going to add a bunch more.

Nice. Still loving all my damsels too. Haven’t been able to find any Tracey’s yet. That will complete my collection

Have you noticed any pairing off, or any hierarchy starting?

Will you add more yellow tails, or a different species?

Curious about this too. I imagine it won’t be long until you start seeing spawning. Hopefully they will remain peaceful after breeding starts.

It's a big tank

.... 400 net gallons. They have mostly broken off into two groups of six, though no apparent pecking order. I have quite a few larger fish, which tends to keep them in line. I will get another 20 or so either of the regular yellow tile or azures. I have no real preference, mostly what is available.

Would be cool if they spawn, though most of them are quite small (nominally 1") so probably some maturing to do still.

You can see some of them in this picture ..... if the finned piggies didn't always photo bomb me.

I suppose...big enough tank that they don't always have to all hang out together.

I wondered about the outcome of mixing species, or staying within the Chrysiptera but using something that looks different, like Talbot's.

Yea, they really don't bother any of the other fish. I have 3 Rolland, 5 talbot, 5 azure and approximately 36 yellowtail. I did buy two as talbot, but they aren't. Not sure what they are, so hopefully not problematic.
