Wow, all your tanks are amazing!
If you were to distill your maintenance and setup(s) down to 3 or 4 best practices or critical choices of necessary equipment for success would would they be? |

Agreed, simple is always best.
Just out of curiosity what do you mean by powerfilter? What comes to mind for me is an Aquaclear 50 or something like that but I'm guessing your talking about something else.. Perhaps power heads for circulation? |

I personally am not a fan of socks due to being lazy and it is another thing I have to tinker with and clean. I've run the floss between compartments and it does similar and water really looks the best when I have that in place. Also my sump is actually cleaner on the bottom. But back to my lazy comment - it needs to be changed to be effective. And, well, back to that lazy part Great looking tanks Glennf.

With the pump powering the flow you build more pressure, move more water and remove more fine particles. A powerfilter will be clogged in 2-3 days and produce microbubbles. No other filter remove dirt this fast. If applied wel into the complete maintenance system, It also remove coloring from the water without any use of activated carbon happy DSR reefer |

Growth is my worst enemy After a while you get light and flow limited and cutting corals cost most of my time. Current Maintenance for 11 tanks. (On 3 separate system) Daily feeding whilst enjoying, 15-20 minutes Every other day cleaning windows, 15 minutes Every 2-5 days replacing 9 powerfilters, 15 minutes Measuring, correcting and adjusting dosings once 2-3 week, 30 minutes per system (3system) Cleaning 3 skimmercups once every 7-10 Days, 15 minutes Fragging and cutting corals once every 2-3 months, 4-5 hours. Replacing T5 bulb every 6 months, 1 hour Miscellaneous per month, 2-4hours No periodic waterchanges, 0 hours happy DSR reefer |

Today is was time to do some gardening in my butterflyreef.
The corals were growing into eachother and towards the surface. Light, flow and space for the fish to swim were getting limited and it was time to do something about it. A dozen of acropora frogskin frags was the result of "a days work" Before, after and frags happy DSR reefer |

Adding test frag from different tanks, which went very well. Then gradually moving all inhabitants from 2x 40liter small fragtanks, butterflyreef120, Quarantine115 tank Nadat een test met enkel stukken (1/11) uit verschillende bakken goed aansloeg, alles verhuisd van de bakken langs de muur. happy DSR reefer happy DSR reefer |
