Filter socks clogging really quick

I never used to have an issue with my filter socks. They would easily last a week if I got jammed up and was unable to get around to swapping them out. Recently, they have started clogging in 2 days. I tried purchasing new ones thinking that the old ones might have outlived their usefulness, but the new socks clog just as quickly.

I've read this is typically caused by a bacterial bloom, but I can't find any reason why I would be experiencing a bloom. I'm not carbon dosing and all 5 of my fish are accounted for, along with the cleaner shrimp, 3 hermits and a turbo snail. It really can't be a death in the tank that is causing the issue.

Any reason why they would be clogging so fast?

Are they clogging with a slime coating? I one time had a problem with a clear slime that would clog everything up.

A little, but nothing major.

Nope, the reactor has been offline for months.

Apparently it was a bacterial bloom that has since subsided. Things seem to be back to normal now.
