Right now, the whites are ramping to 40% and the blues are ramping to 53% PAR at those numbers on the bottom of the tank (near the center) is 310, but only for a few seconds as the light passes over. I'm just keeping an eye on things for now while everything adjusts to LEDs. Over the next few weeks I'll slowly start ramping up a bit more. With the whites and blues at 100%, the PAR on the bottom of the tank is 550. Probably a bit much for LPS/Zoas. The bottom of the tank is 31" from the light as well. It will definitely be a process figuring out where to put stuff and how long to run the light. But I'll have fun doing it!

Very cool for sure. I have never visited the Pacific reefs or much of any place that we strive to keep in our tanks but I have always wondered how much sunlight corals really get on average. There are lots of variables for each coral in nature so something simulating passing cloud cover is nice to see. That's one of the things I really like in some of the LED units, the ability to simulate cloud cover (ok ok thunderstorm/lighting is cool too). |

Just checking before I post pics. Would a 72 x 16 x 18 tank be considered shallow? 16's is the height and 18's is the width.

Posting this here as well, Did not see this thread so I started one already but more fitting in here.
I think I want to start a small frag tank my main goal is to grow out some frags and trade and supplement my main tank. I currently am getting a Deep Blue Professional Edge 57 and I have to say I love the tank and it is top notch quality. They have a 30 gal RR that I think would be great, what I like about it is the low height that will be great for lighting the corals via hanging pendants. Anyone have any other tanks I should take a look at before I make the plunge. This tank will be located in a small room in my basement that I am going to put walls up and run electric and enclose off the rest of the basement. I will be running a calcium reactor and have hanging lights and will be a bare bottom. Look forward to hearing recommendations. |

That is very cool, I want to do something like that.
I have been getting the itch for a new tank lately.

Wow, some very nice new additions. I like the mangrove add-on as well. You plan to put any kind of appropriate livestock in there or do you just plan use it for looks/nutrient stuff?
