Treating Zoa pox
It sems the mention of the words causes it to break out on zoanthids everywhere. I had read Dave's thread about his zoa eating nudis and then someone noticed zoa pox. I thought "boy am I glad I've never had either of those problems." Then I saw that Dan was looking for Furan2 (to treat zoa pox?) and thought...."wow.....2 people". Today I was peering into my 14 gal nano and noticed........ZOA POX!
I just picked up some Furan 2 at Your Reef and am dipping the affected zoas. Should I dip the ones that aren't showing signs as well?

How would you dip frags that are growing on large or major rock chunks of rocks? Rocks that can not be removed from the tank.

I imagine you would need to find a way to remove them from the rock, or.....dip the whole rock.

Yeah....that's what I decided to do. Waited a few for an answer...but then figured....it several colonies have it for sure....the other's are bound to start showing signs eventually. Thanks Sam. They're soaking in their first dip now.
I just cringed when I stuck my Tubs Blue frag in there.

I didnt hear back in time before leaving for LA, so I set up a 5g QT and used the Furan2 as described on the package for treating fish... the two affected frags have been soaking in it for two days! I hope thats ok? I just did a 100% WC using unmedicated water from another tank.
Ps - the frags have not opened since I brought them home (although they were open when I bought them)... not good

1 packet in a cup of water is what the treatment on zoaid says.
I used about a cup and a half of ro/di with 1 packet. Soaked for 15 min then rinsed in a cup of water from the tank. Then I let the sit out for a while then returned them to the tank. I'm going to repeat that tonight and tomorrow. Then it says to treat them again in 2 weeks I think. Some of my zoas opened a bit after treatment, some haven't yet.....but they all look ok.

I think I've narrowed down where they came from. But, it doesn't really matter. Fact is I have it and am treating all my zoas whether they've got it or not. Funny thing....the ones that show signs of pox seem to be reacting well to the dips, but the ones that are being treated as a precaution are ticked off!

Mine have still never reopened
How long should I wait before I can safely put them in the display? (remember, mine were also infested with nudi eggs)

Dave....from everything I have read, manual removal of the eggs is the only way. Take tweezers and carefully remove the entire egg sack. You'll also need to dip every 2 week to ensure you kill any stragglers hatching. What I read suggests dipping in Flat worm exit for the nudi's. Dip for 15 min.....turn coral upsidedown and shake, rinse in a cup of tank water, then let soak in another cup of tank water 15 min and shake it again in the water. Then return it to QT and repeat in 2 weeks. I imagine until you no longer see nudis or eggs.
Having both nudis and pox....gawd......Furan 2 dips and FWE dips.....yikes! I feel for ya dude!

On an up note, one frag is nearly completely open, and the other is starting to show some colors too!
(at least they are not dead yet) I think the 50 hour soaking in Furan2 as per directions on box is working...
