hey AL I have seen your TJ on aus forum and have started simlar sized Water changes as yourself to see how it goes what really gets me is the use of the sun and being outdoors. (good idea)
How does your chiller cope during the summer on the 40 degree days?
Cheers

Stunning, Al ! Do consider producing a "slower"/relaxing, lengthier version of your system video ... Cheers

Some pics this morning just before the sun is coming over.

(my preference) 10k with leds:

10k without leds, yukky!:

20k radium globes and leds, yukky - everythings the same colour!:

total shade and no lights:

morning sun in foreground, 10k and led strip in background:

Ok so...Al, you are an animal.
Plain and simple.. A crazy Aussie reefing animal!
I want to be you!!!
If I had an outdoor jacuzzi room, I would copy your system!
I guess I'd have a little trouble getting the fresh salt water up here in Canada..
Oh we'll..
Literally, an awesome set up!!
Delicate question, perhaps: Where did all the coral come from originally?
With proper permits are you able/allowed to collect yourself? Or is my knowledge of geography so bad that I don't realize that you are not close enough to reefs to collect yourself?
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.
Most of the coral you see is wild collected originally.
The Marine harvest industry here is prevalent, and the existence in the wild of Acropora species are particularly abundant, both on the west and east coast.

All stock is purchased from licensed collectors or local fish shops.

With the availability and price of wild caught stock, the aquaculture industry is not established, and from what ive seen, not going to be any time soon.

Thanks, being from Canada, I am not interested I purchasing anything from you, so if I can ask, I'm curious how much you sell those fantastic little frags for?
Do you have different pricing for different types of acro, or are they all the same price?
I guess I'm wondering how viable a frag business is in Australia when, as you mentioned, the wild stuff is just off shore..

They sell for AU $16 which includes airport to airport freight. minimum of 10.
All are same price, about 2 inch.

I sell about 50 - 100 a week if I keep the stock updates interesting.

Power bill is shocking though,

Simply amazing. I was curious about the sand in your tank. What type of sand is it and how do you keep it so clean?

This tank and thread is simply outstanding! The great colors in the corals is second to none. Having full access to the Aussie NSW and sun light must make life so mush easier and better for the corals as well..

thanks everyone.
The sand is playground sand from the hardware store. I have 10 x sand sifting stars, 5 x valencia gobys and 7 x sicce voyager 10's all on random, to keep the sand moving ontop of itself in any direction. The sand is 1 year old. I have never siphoned it.
