RLSS r series, they get great reviews. I just pulled the pin on a r5-i, saltysupply.com has them half off. 279.99 reg, now 140.00. Comes with a waveline dc2500h pump (non apex version) but they also have the apex version motor and controller on sale for 55.00. so i bought that also. I was out the door for under 200.00 with a spare pump, controller, and power supply. They are rated for a 70 gal reef, or 90 fowlr.

Just placed my order for a 50g cube. Building my own stand to house all of the electronics away from the sump and plumbing. Question: which section of the sump should I place the ATO float valve? Pump section?

I put mine in the return pump section. Not sure if its right or wrong but it works great, and allows me to play with the water heigth in the skimmer section.

HI all! I have the SCA 90 "cube". I am redoing some plumbing, and am considering the herbie. What is the best way to go about this for a 1" drain and 1/2 return? Thanks!

Do you know if a Maxspect Gyre would hold in the middle of the tank on an SCA overflow? Or will it not work because of the glass inside of the overflow?

Just ordered the SCA 150 Gal "Version 2". Rimless(no eurobrace)15mm Glass 60"x24"x24" Starfire coming factory pre-drilled for a 20" Synergy Ghost Overflow and two 1" return bulkheads!
Just got email with shipping info.... I was able to sell my new 150 gal with eurobracing to a friend. I had removed the tower overflow for a synergy overflow instead, but the water level ended up being too low for my taste(3" to top). The rimless, thicker glass look also appeals more to me. The new "version 2" tanks according to steve keep water level at 1.25" bellow the top!

I finally decided to go with SCA on my next tank. I will be making a minor upgrade from a Red Sea Reefer 170 to a SCA 24x24x20 50g tank with a custom drilled back pane. I will be attaching the new Synergy Reef Shadow Overflow and have a 1/2" return.
I am waiting on the CAD file from Steve but as soon as it's approved the tank will be in production. I was told there would be a 12 week build time. That'll give me 12 weeks to research and figure out what kind of new stand I will be going with. Currently I plan on using a Aluminum T-slot stand that will be skinned with removable wood panels. I plan on using only 1/4" - 1/2" thick oak if I decide on staining the wood. If I decide to paint the wood, any wood will work. My desk next to the tank is oak with a gunstock finish so I might just emulate the desk. |

lol
Thanks... The max I can have is 50.5" tall with tank, I have to be able to access the wall behind it from time to time . I guess if I have to I can break out the table saw and shorten the necessary panels/doors on the stand by an inch if I have to. |

Question for all you who have had/have rimless aquariums. So i got a 150 gallon sc aquarium. The pad it came with was cut wrong so sc aquariums said I could use a yoga mat thats closed cell. Well I was filling up the aquarium and noticed that one corner seems compressed more than the others however the tank was leveled and re checked multiple times. Ive owned rimless tanks before however never used a yoga mat. I could just be paranoid and everything is fine. You guys let me know.

Now I've had water for just over two weeks. We are slowly getting there! (Really wish I swapped the styrofoam pad for a black yoga mat or something similar, im going to try and "paint" the edge black to hide it a little better. Although since this picture from about a week ago, it has flattened out a little bit I think. |

I have have that in both my aquariums which are both sc aquariums. I emailed Steve about it with my last tank and he said it's nothing to worry about. My suggestion is when comes to seams, just watch them from time to time to make sure no bubbles are growing or new ones are appearing. |

So my 50g cube with oak stand arrived in New York from southern California last Wed Dec 7.It was a Christmas present for my son and we were all excited to get it set up and running.I took a vacation day to be here to accept delivery ok.great, but the driver refused to let me inspect the shipment which I thought was rather odd... not wanting to be stuck with a broken tank,I couldn't accept the delivery, disappointment all round.has anyone had this experience with the shipper?, ended up ordering a red sea 170.I contacted Steve and he said he would refund the $749,have not heard from him since.
