Still cycling with this new rock. Ammonia is 2 and nitrate still 0. Doing 75% daily water changes.

I am building a 60 Cube myself and am looking at the same light. How do you like the light and the color it puts out so far?

I like the light. Good colors. I have no corals in the tank so not sure what to make of it with respect to that. The quality looks good too. Has a nice array of blue, purple, white, green, and a few red LEDs. You can adjust the amount of light output and it is on a timer. Instructions are clear but I thought the light was a bit confusing to figure out. Took a little trial and error. But no more then 5-10min. There is no sunup or sundown. There is no moon light. |

Thanks for the info. That is exactly what I am looking for. Did you say it has built in timers for each channel or did you plug it into a seperate timer?

Bravo!!
Well done, very well done.
That was a lot of work to undertake in order to get your sump built and I respect the hell out of you for going that route. I am in the sourcing equipment stage of putting together a 60 gal cube also, and I have been dealing with the sump question for the last few days. I spent a few hours last night designing a sump and priced having most of the acrylic pre cut to size, with only a few pieces for me to do. It ended up coming out to $240 without shipping, buying the bits for my Dremel, and blades for my jigsaw. I built a sump back in 2010, so I know your pain. I decided to buy a used sump instead for $80, but I would be a lot more satisfied if I did what you did and built it myself. I'm on a serious budget and saving that $ is big. What was the green anemone looking thing in one of the pics of the LR? Did that come in with the rock? How many pounds is that btw? I'm also curious about how that light works for you, I'm leaning towards a hydra 26 or maybe 2 AI Primes, depending on what deals I can find. But a more cost effective option is welcomed. I really like how you aquascaped the rock too. Again, great work, you should be very pleased with yourself! Im going to follow along for ideas and inspiration.

Lighting a cube. Gives you lots of options. I am very happy with my Kessil 360. Its strong, it's great looking, very minimal above the tank. The controllability paired with the spectral controller is great.
The only downside I have found is the drawback of a single source light. The pendant style gives a teepee like lighting effect. You need to be creative with aquascaping, or you have a lot of shadowing. I know in my tank I have a few tough spots because I hadn't considered this. I like the idea of the hydra or a pair or AI's. Both would work great. That light the OP has will give great coverage too. I can't speak personally on any of these lights though. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |

The sump build was painful but fun. I really wanted to get the sump to fit in a tight spot and maximize space. In hindsight prob not worth the money, but a fun build. If I could do it all over again. I would have cut the pieces myself with a good table saw blade. That was super easy. Also didn't realize how easy holes were to cut with a dremel and a $5 bit. Nothing in your sump needs to be so precise that you can't do it yourself. I spent most of my money on pieces with holes in it, most I ended up not even using because I changed it around at the last minute. 80$ is a great price to get a sump that will work. As for the green thing. I think it is a rose bubble anemone. It came with the live rock. There were about 5 other similar anemones also. I ended up getting 45lbs plus some bare live rock I had in my garage from a tank from about 10 years back. The rock came from fiji but spent an extra day in the airport. Most of the invert were dead on arrival. There were crabs, star fish, and bristle worms that were all dead. The lights are nice. I have yet to grow any coral. So again not sure what to think of them yet. But the quality seems to be better then the price I paid on Amazon! Thanks for the feedback and kind words. Tried to stay away from the brick wall look that is so easy to do. Most tanks force you to landscape from side to side based on their dimensions. The nice thing about cubes is the depth you can achieve because you can build equally in all directions. |

Ammonia read zero today. Nitrates also near zero. I left a grow light on the sump 24-7 and didn't really see the spike in nitrates like I suspected or use to seeing. I am thinking it is due to the high quality live rock and the large amount of algae in the refugime that I promoted to grow. Or my test kit is broken. Either way time to get a clean up crew. I am thinking turbo, margarita, and astrea snails. Mix that with 10-15 hermits. Thoughts? Also going to get some chaeto from a local guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Picked up some clean up crew from live aquaria
I went with 10 astrea 1 margarita 12 blue legged and got like 30 tiny ones 10 Nerite ( thought they would be small but each was bigger then a nickel) 10 cerith (also adult) 5 red legged hermits and got 8 8 scarlet hermits (1doa) Hopefully this will be enough to keep algae at bay without too many deaths. Also a sea urchin and peppermint shrimp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Tested water today
Calcium 450 Mag 1380 Nitrate 0 Phos 0 Alk. 11 Ph. 7.9-8.0 Given the low nutrients and algae is starting to die in the sump/ refugime I decided to remove some of it. The goal is to create a balance so that the algae consumes all nutrients in the tank but is removed before it dies and released nutrients back into the water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
