Help w/ Skimmer. I used ChemiClean.

Hi everyone.
I was starting to have a red slime problem. It started to spread like weeds so I was advised to use ChemiClean. I've seen it mentioned here before but I can't seem to find the thread.
Anyway... I turned off my skimmer for 24 hrs like the directions said. Now that I turned it back on the faom is very watery and my cup filled up w/ water w/in 3 hrs. How do I fix this problem?

Some waiting should solve the problem. Water changes might help speed along the problem.

does your skimmer have an air valve? if so, close the air off to almost nothing. As it pulls the chemi clean out you can SLOWLY open the air valve.

No air valve. It's a Remora Pro w/ mag 3 & preskimmer. Mag 3 is totally submersed w/ no air tube.

no not a problem, most ppl who use chime clean exp these skimmer problems after using chemi clean.

As bert suggested, water changes and time is all you need and your skimmer will be back to normal in a day or 2.

hi Amy, ChemiClean requires you turn off your skimmer for 24 hours and do a 25% water change after that amount of time. you may have clear and watery skimmate for about a day, then skimming resumes normal activity. im highly against any chemicals in the reef, if it can be done naturally. things such as, PH (flow) placement, feeding, overdoseing supplements are usually the cause for red cyano. "patience, time and research"... im gonna get you to beleive in those, eventually! have a great night and REEF-ON!
