Which controller is right for me?
Yes, this question. it has been asked quite a few times, but I'm more confused, the more I read !
I'm looking for a controller for my new to be tank (kinda like new to be bride ) Tank: 57g oceanic illuminata Equipment to control: Reef octopus skimmer Eheim 1260 return pump (not decided on this yet) 1 vortech mp10wes, Will probably add 2nd down the line. 2 kessil LED (150w) or maybe 1 350w 1 fuge LED 1 JBJ ATO 1 pump for JBJ ato possibly 1 fan to go with the same timing as the light Not sure if i'm missing anything. I'd like to obviously control the mp10 if possible (requires additional module) Keep the kessil and the fuge led on timers (opposite run times). Monitor the return pump for power outage if any. Ability to control and view via iphone / web browser Monitor pH? Monitor salinity? Not sure what else I can or should monitor. I won't have any dosing pumps for now, but could have in the future. Thinking, no matter what, I will have to expand another energy bar. suggestions?

Apex Lite and not because I have one. If the LEDs were dimmable then I would say the full Apex unit but in your case you won't need it. As for salinity, you won't need that option since you will be running an ATO. I would highly suggest getting the Tunze Osmolatoe, top of the line stuff and works perfectly. Haven't had a single problem since installing mine. Make sure you get a pH probe, it's always nice to see what's going on even when your away.
The Apex Lite should do most of what you want, you would need a wireless adaptor (netgear universal wireless adaptor $24 on eBay) and set it up for wireless in and out of your home network. Save your money for the Vortech module, I'm planning to getone myself. It's funny how our equipment list is some what similar. The 1260 should be perfect, my 1262 has too much flow but with it tee'd off to a few other things it works pretty well. |
