I am not too fond of Capture the Sea. I have at times seen many sick fish, sick anemones and dead anemones still for public viewing. A dead anemone in a tank is pretty nasty. I have yet to see a healthy anemone in their tanks. They are a bit expensive for what they have, and the condition it is in, an not as knowledgeable as they should be.

I was in there once and that was enough for me. they had a Remora in some small tank...the thing had barely enough room to swim 12inches before it had to turn around. They were cleaning out this bigger tank that I would assume this thing would go in...but it just wasnt pretty.

yeah i agree: high prices, not the greatest selection, and no sps! bummer...
i saw that remora too.... kinda heart breaking. why would they even stock a fish like that for home aquariums? silly.... kinda like the nurse sharks i see too often at LPS's

I stop in there once in a while, horrible selection, over priced common fish. Poor selection of dry goods. I would go with Aquatica in tinley park which is down the street from capture the sea. Huge selection of fish, dry goods very healthy selection. Another place in orland park is GO FISH which is part of the reptile house. Nice selection of aquacultured SPS's, dry goods and some decent fish.

i had good luck with capture, as well as the shop at 79th and harlem, oddlot. i'm strange(ya know it). if i buy a fish or coral and have bad luck with it, i dont go back. Animal island in midlo, is a terrible shop, but i have never lost a fish from them. Aquatica on the other hand i've had nothing but fish death????

Odd Lot!Tropicana! How old are we old farts?Who was the guy on Roberts Road and maybe 103rd or so?And Barry at 111th and Kedzie next to the record store?King Picses was his name.Every Friday,I had a bag waiting for me to feed the Lionfish,Big Snowflake Eel,and a big Marine Betta. The stuff we bought back in the 80's was kinda experimental in the south suburbs.

the guys at capture the sea are greedy scam artists, and give people misinformation just to sell stuff. they charge more than double on many of their things, especially any dry goods. i know, i got taken badly there when i first started.....

well i'll stay away then. i went to aquatica the other week and liked it alot. go fish is a cool place but they are the ones who sold my wife the elegance as a "neon open brain $39.00" (not sure I am cool with that). reef's edge was pretty cool too when i was there.

the place is on 189th and wolf road they have some good fish prices not a lot of tanks though and the coral selection is limited to one huge tank with a few SPS at the top that were hard to see because the tank was up high and depp and lots of other nice corals though

111th and kedzie?! i live a block away! i wish there was a good lfs there! is the one on roberts road and 103rd still there? or 189th and wolf? ive never been to or heard of these places, but would check them out. unless of course i got confused and all these are all on north rather than south side..... then i guess im SOL
BTW, i heard odd lots went out of business, but heard good things about it while it was there, even though i myself was never there. anyone know what the deal is with them?

Way overpriced, poor customer service and just plain boring!
id save your time for Aquatica in Tinley park, IMO the best store for fish and corals....95% softies and LPS...and it's about 5 min from CTS... also, if time permits id stop in at the "Reptile house" of John Humphrey Drive by the mall, Fish store as well.....LOTS of stuff, some good, some bad, but overall a decent store. HTH.

ok consensus says skip CTS, goto "the new one" to check it out. swing over to Aquatica again. have lunch/dinner with the parents and make up some bs reason to have to leave and make a mad dash for DLC before they close. sound right to you?
