foam filter on return pump?

i have had a foam filter on my return pump (mag 9) for as long as my tank has been set up, but then i was thinking that this would prevent some of the good stuff coming from my fuge from getting into the DT. this morning, i pulled the foam pad off but i am now getting a lot of small bubbles in my DT. what do other people do who have fuges?

I too am curious about this, my return pump (mag 9.5) has a HUGE filter pad on it and it wouldnt fit in the return section of my sump/fuge so I took it off.

I prefer to run without a filter on my return pump. The risk of them clogging and damaging the return combined with restricting good pods and what not is why. I prefer to filter the water as it enters the sump not as it leaves. As for the bubbles find the source.
