Salifert Iodine Test Kit

I’m testing for Iodine but getting a weird result. After 1ml of water I add one drop I2-2 followed by 4 drops of I2-3. This gives a light yellow result. I’ve then added 3 drops of I2-2 and checked the result. Yellow again! The colour chart suggests ranges of blue. What is going wrong, any ideas?

The iodine/iodate test produces the yellow green color while the iodide test produces the blue color.

The literature that comes with the kit (online) indicates that the test contains two procedures, one for iodide, one for iodine/iodate.

The colour chart states the opposite. Blue colour iodate and green colour iodide

Interestingly today it’s now a clear reading. Dosed yesterday, got a colour response, today none. I’ve raised another post asking if carbon impacts Iodine

I probably shouldn't comment, but the Salifert iodine kit was one of the few testing setups I was unable to get to work at all. You might need a new kit.
