ALK DOSING with APEX

Ok, so I got one for you guys. Ive been dosing alkalinity daily with my apex controller. Im currently doing about 11.5 ml daily to keep the alk at 9. Here's my question though, do you recommend dosing the 11.5 ml over 24 hrs (which is what Im currently doing) or dosing a larger amount at the lowest ph peak to keep the ph more stable thru the off light hours(which is what Im thinking of doing)?

Also, Im thinking that maybe dosing more less often could be better for the dosing pump? Thoughts???

pH shift is a natural part of photosynthesis rates changing whether their is light or not.

It would be more important to keep Alk levels stable than your pH - In my opinion and from my experience.

When my alk is dialed in and rock solid - my corals are happier.

Doesn't matter what my pH is doing.

When there is an issue with my corals not looking their best - pH is never a concern for me. There is some other culprit.

So would you say dose it over 24 hrs to keep it at its most stable? or can i do the same thing in less steps dosing wise?

In general its best to split your dosing into multiple smaller shots per day..
Thats how you would be the "most stable"..
Its not being depleted at one time...

Are you using this to write the Apex program? Very handy.

Unless you are using Apex DOS.

If that means you are doing multiple smaller doses per day instead of 1 every 24 hours then yes..

Love that calc! I used it all the time when I had BRS doser. Forgot about it since I went to a standalone doser.

To the op: It's best to dose small amounts througout the day. Although with only dosing 11ml I might break that up into 3 or 4 doses(it really isn't much).
