You're correct, A.G.E did not invent this - I did not say that. Tom (from A.G.E) told me that this process was developed in the 70's. Because of the higher costs involved, this process never became popular. He has chosen not to disclose the "secret".

UV curable products are everywhere from sealants to paints, printing inks and many other products. They are the future for many industries that currently rely on petroleum based, high VOC solvents and products.

I give AGE kudos if they are using UV curable materials. Not only is the equipment highly expensive, but the UV curable materials cost 2x to 3X+ as much as solvent based products. Its a serious investment for a small company.

Tom did mention that one reason his tanks cost more than other custom tanks is because of the huge investment in equipment.

Got THE call from Greg@Reefgeek late Friday afternoon that my ATI Powermodules have arrived! They are going to ship today, and should have them by Wednesday! Woo Hoo! I've been waiting almost 5 months for these fixtures. Will post pics when they come in!

Thanks for your complement! We're moved in, but not quite settled yet. We're trying to get some of the dirty remodelling completed before we unwrap our furniture. Our countertops are going in today, backsplash next Monday.

My ATI Powermodules came in!!

They are NICE, and well made

Thanks! Reefgeek is the only US distributor, and they're just starting to trickle into his store! I've been on the pre-order list since April.

I had halides/actinics/chiller on my last tank. I wanted to save some on my electrical bills this time around, and so decided on the T5-only tank. With the Powermoduls, I can still keep SPS w/o need for halides/chiller.

Very cool tbone28.
I'm going with the powermoduls too. I think 2 x 48 or 48 and 36.

tbone, it's looking awesome. I love the powermodules as well, they are really nice. I am looking forward to seeing them in action.

You went with 2x36" 8 bulbs is that correct? Nice choice.

Waxxie -

Thanks! Yup, went with (2) of the 8x39 watters. I've got 6' of coverage left-to-right on a 6' tank, and 17" coverage front-to-back on a 24" deep tank, which should be fine because I don't plan on stacking rock on the back/front wall of the tank

cbui -

Christmas indeed! Actually, it was not a hard sell to my wife. We had halides last time, a chiller, and a huge electricty bill. I told her the flourescents don't require a chiller!

The lights are going to be screwed into the 2x4's

I only have (1) dedicated 20-amp circuit to the tank, which should be plenty. I think I"m drawing a total of 11amps from my whole set-up. As a backup, I'm going to plug one of my Tunzes into a separate cirucit (kitchen) - this is the receptacle on the left-hand side which you see in the pic. This 2nd circuit is "empty", as it controls the receptacles above the kitchen counter - I'll never have anything plugged into those receptacles.

It's pretty cool that now with t5's, low wattage powerheads and NW skimmers how much we can save in electricity. I think you should be fine with 20 amps... I'm not expert though =)

Hi Guys, I do have an update. I added (4) more 2x4's in order to hang the lights. I also stained the wood frame around the tank and painted the wall behind the tank with some semi-gloss paint. The best update: I hung the lights this afternoon! Pics to come...

Here are the pics of the fixtures installed. Lights look great. I love the color. The hardware is extremely easy to use. The fixture moves up/down quite easily. The fans are extremely quiet too!

Here, you can see the (4) additional 2x4's I added, to which the fixtures are hung. You can also see the solid, brown stain I painted onto the framing:
