Tunze's or Oceans motions
I just purchased a 120 gal tank from Rod. The question is would you go with a oceans motions 4way or 2-6100 tunze's with a 7095 multicontroller? Why?
Thanks Larry |

6 to one, half dozen the other. Initial cost is about the same (factor in pump, plumbing, the 4-way and tank drilling) as is amount of flow. The 6100s push up to 3150 gph each, with one at 100% and the other alternating at 30% that's 4000 gph running at any given time. For a closed loop many choose the Dart at 3600 gph.
What it comes down to are basically 2 things: 1. Electrical consumption: The 6100s pull about 45 watts each. Depending on your closed loop pump that could be doubled (Dart) or tripled (Barracuda). 2. Looks: Do you want to look at 2 large powerheads in the tank or all the plumbing for a closed loop? I chose the Tunzes because I did not want to have to drill more holes in a tank and knew that I would be moving to a new tank in the near future. At first the Tunzes looked huge in the tank, but now after a year and a half I don't even notice them.
