Input on 180 stocking
I'm upgrading my 55 to a 180.
Currently I have: 3 McCosker's wrasses 2 clownfish (A. Ocellaris) 1 Valentini Puffer 1 Coral Beauty 1 Citron goby 1 Algae Blenny 1 Yellow Coris Wrasse I would like to add: Magnificent Foxface Lieutenant Tang or Orange Shoulder tang (could I do both?) 1-3 Chalk Bass Mandarin (down the line, definitely not within the first 6 months) 1-3 leopard wrasses Maybe a bristletooth tang Would that work? I'm open to suggestions. I mostly keep softies and LPS. I tend to prefer smaller fish or fish that a casual observer isn't used to seeing in tanks. |

That looks like a pretty nice list. I would choose the Orange Shoulder Tang over the Lieutenant Tang. I never kept either, but have read that Lieutenants tend to be more aggressive towards other tangs that Orange Shoulders.
Make sure you feed the foxface enough as it can turn to coral for food if not fed enough. If you get leopard wrasses, make sure they are eating before you take them home. Otherwise, they might compete with each other and the mandarin for pods. Looks like a pretty good list though! Good luck!

I have a Lieutenant and it is very peaceful towards other tangs. IME, orange shoulders get very aggressive when they get bigger. I would recommend the LT as it will probably max out around 9-10 inches. You could do something like the LT, Whitetail Bristletooth, and a Yellow/Purple Tang. I would do the One-spot Foxface instead of the Magnificent. they get huge. I would to a m/f combo of leopard wrasses.
