Vertex Skimmer club

Ok all, I have seen a couple picks of these as there will be hitting the market soon. I just ordered one today and will have it thursday. Anyone using one of these yet and if so whats your opinion. Looks alot like euroreef in the neck and it does have a bubble plate. Ill take picks when I get mine.

I just looked at the Vertex skimmer online for the first time. It looks pretty good. I dont know of anyone using them, I would like to hear some feed back. But I am curious about a couple of things on the 250 in sump model.

1) Rated for 150-250 gallons, body is 8"DX30"H, with a pump that draws 145 watts. What pump are they running, and specs of the pump?

I hope those wattage #s are incorrect. If they are correct they are very inefficient pumps.

Thats what I was thinking, but if you could mod them to be more efficient, then you might have something. Or the skimmer is way under rated.

I was at premium aquatics talking to them about it. They just brought the whole line on. The skimmer feels real solid. The diameter of the air tube looks pretty large and I think the pump has the same "guts" of a fairly popular brand. I forget the name of the pump..sorry.

I will be buying one too. Keep us posted.

that is the one I am planning on getting. how much did you pay?

For people who haven't seen these, there is a bubble plate at the top of that inner chamber behind the logo.

ok all got it unpacked and fired up. Had to make a stand as my water level was set for 9" and this thing I think will run better around 7" still has to break in. Well it seems to be made pretty well. I would say same level as octo skimmers. The collection cup seems just like the one off the msx 160. The neck is pretty long too. Fired it up and it looks pretty good. you all want some pics?

I just got back from work and its getting a good foam head on it already, I made my stand shorter as well . It is now in 8 inches of water. I am actually suprised that its getting a thick foam head on it already. I only took my MSX 200 out just a couple days ago. i ll take a few more pics tonight to give you all a 24 hour update. I hope this is helpful for some...
