I was checking out the sponsor thread this morning and low and behold there's a shop down by where I live ! I jumped in the jeep and went to check it out , First impression of the inside of this new store ( Its only been open for seven weeks ) was its very clean and well organized . There frag tanks are well lit with radion lights and when asked the owner will adjust the lighting to match as close to your display tank as he can , I know for me this is awesome , I can get a much better picture of what my intended purchase is going to look like in my tank . The guys running the store are a Father and Son pair that seem to work well together and are concerned about the well fair of there live stock asking me if I was going to dip my new purchases . All in all I will definitely be buying from them again . Oh and I got this little guy for $45 !

I inquired at a meeting last year about the club's view on sponsorship. Just wondering if the limit is 5 sponsors a year now?

There is no limit to the number of sponsors however we do like to have enough paid TBRC members to support the sponsors. We don't want 10 stores and 40 members. We also like to have sponsors in various areas of TB. We have a pretty large geographic area and these 5 are all in different areas of the Bay area.

I stopped by and checked them out. They are really nice guys. They spent a lot of time speaking with me and answering all my newbie questions. The shop is really nice. Now that my tank is finally ready to go I will be going back to pick up some stuff.

The Bay area is a huge area to cover and we are trying to get good, reliable LFS sponsors in as many areas as we can. There are a few areas that the Board needs to take a look at and we do have several other stores on our list to look at too.

acro, you can try to get some details from the local club Reef Visions Community. I believe they are having one in July at the same venue TBRC had it 2-3 yrs ago. I'm assuming you didn't miss out on the frag swaps that were in the area in recent months, a lot with reefapalooza? |

Thanks for the info.
I meant auctions too, which were often at meetings. It's been close to two yrs away for me.

I don't think it is fair to say that there is no interest in the current board to have a frag event(not a swap really either) at a clubhouse or such. As explained when the idea was brought up, the issue is that these events are tons of work for the board(the 5 of us) and we require volunteers to help coordinate, set up and actually work the event. We'll get there eventually but our focus this year has been giving back to our members, our upcoming scholarships and educations topics at meetings. Also, we do have frag auctions scheduled quarterly during our meeting. We just had one in April so look for one sometime before the Sept. meeting. Lots of great stuff at those auctions and great prices too.
