running a mag 18 external
Anyone running a mag 18 external?
Thinking of using a different sump and its drilled for a external sump and I either am going to use my mag 18, or a blue line 40x. The mag 18 will give me more return (not by much with head loss but the blue line is a pressure rated pump at 1250 gph Its going to be a around 5 ft of head from the sump to the return which is split on a 180. I am getting my flow in the tank from my powerheads so Im not concerned about the "flow" from the return. Whats your thoughts and opinions |

Blue line. Mags aren't really external and will leak

I'm not sure, but I think the mag line of pumps "can" be used externally, but I would be too worried about it leaking as well.

I ran one external for a few years. Not ideal but it works.
