How loud's the fan?

People usually say they can't hear it over general tank noise but if you fire one up away from a tank can you hear it?
I'm in a small studio with a 190g tank on a dynamat lined cabinet containing a Deltec SC2060 fed by a silent siphon overflow (durso backup) 3 feet from my pillow.
I'm anal about noise levels & although I love Kessil I'm just weighing up whether to go this route or something fanless.
Cheers gents.

I've got one on order through Premium Aquatics. I was told it would be shipped out in 2 weeks or so...

Not loud enough to annoy you. I guarantee it.

Thanks for all of your input and pics Frick. I got mixed advice between the a150 and the a350 over my nano cube but after hearing your insight and getting more advice from others with experience I ended up ordering an a150 for my nano cube 28.

I'm seriously considering getting a 30 breeder 24X24X12 and putting an A150 over it as a frag tank. It will be connected to my 150g+ sytem. It will have a standard eggcrate rack about 5 or 6 inches high, I've put this project off for months waiting on feedback using the A350. Frick, would you suggest the 150 or 350. If I buy a 350 I wouldn't be able to justify the frag tank as I would use it on my display 58g show. If I set this frag tank up I would keep acro, monti, LPS that are currently thriving under a 250w halide over a 40b.

I really don't think that an a150 is going to cut it on a SPS frag tank. It's comparable to a 150 watt halide at best. I ordered a a150 with mounting bracket as a supplemental light source for dusk dawn affect on my new tank. I couldn't wait to see what it looked like so I plugged it in and held it up to see what it looked like, since it came without the mounting bracket (gotta love drop shipping). This was the 15k Ocean Blue version. I'm glad I got them as supplements, but a main light source for SPS they are not. When the mounting bracket comes in I'll post up some pictures.

Growing birdsnest (Seriatopora) and Monti caps is a lot different IMHO than trying to grow and color up staghorns, millepora, valida and other light loving acropora. Birdsnest and Montipora grew in the remote, dimly lit portions of my tank and kept their color. You'd be better off going with the a350 or sticking with halides. I'm sticking with my 400 watt Radiums until I see some good growth progression shots with the a350. Then maybe I'll make the total switch over to LED if Kessil can make a controllable version that can simulate sunrise/sunset and intensity without manually adjusting.

they have these lights at tongs in fountain valley in California. They put them on one of their display tanks. I think the lights are also for sale.

That's too funny looks like Kessil can't keep up with the demand. So glad I got mine already lol.

What's the rush? Not like there's a limited supply of them.

Remember they were not even suppose to be out yet, These fixtures were initially to be released at the end of July. The reefers that got to buy the A350s and A350Ws are very lucky to get it two months early.

There were only 30 of the A350W units brought in, more to come soon.

So I guess that makes me lucky then I tried it out last night and I'm so glad I went with the A350! More spread than I thought I'd say easily 24"-30". Lights up my cube with ease.

Here is a pic of the A350 over my Solana 34G. Both channels at 100% Fixture 11.5" from water.

If my video finishes uploading I will link to that too.

Please excuse the algae outbreak - I think I tried to use my MH bulb for too long (waiting for the Kessil to be released...)

How in the world did you get it 11" from the water? In order to center it correctly mine is about 7"-8". Just curious any tips to raise it higher?
