Flow over sand bottom

I have 2 Gyre 150s of a reefer 525XL, 59"x22x22. I feel like it has decent sand bed movement, sways back and forth. The areas directly under gyres seem a little "dead". I don't have them reversing at all as I have 2. Could i add a powerhead on back of tank pushing water forward or would my sand get blasted. If so what hardware would u add?
