Algea on my Zoa's...
Quick question- hoping someone can help me out here.
I have a very nice colony of Zoa that's developed a pretty aggressive patch of green hair algae. It's the ONLY rock/colony that has it in my tank. For the past month I've just pulled the algae off when I clean the tank, but it's starting to get tedious. Within a week the algae grows back and obscures the Zoa (overgrows) and now they're shrinking back. Any ideas on how to get rid of this stuff once and for all? |

The bottle of CoralRx I have says it assists in this problem. I have never tried it for that though.

look up hydrogen peroxide. you can pull the rock and spray the rock with it, and it will kill it no problems. (there is a thread on here somewhere....)

I have had luck using Seachem's Reef Dip for these algae problems. From what I hear, Coral RX is great for parasites, and Reef Dip is actually better for all types of out of whack algae and growths.

from the thread (the portions that i read) they are fine. they just close up and are fine.
some just take a needle with the tip off and shoot the rock and base of the corals to prevent any possible stress. i have dipped a zoa frag in a bup of some, and it was fine. (took a day to open, but washappy, and 100% of algae was gone within hours. (just simple hair algae though) if i find the thread, i will post it for you
