best sps coloration I've seen with natural sunlight, great job! you are essentially doing a 50% water change weekly, that must pay dividends in the health of your livestock
thanks for sharing with us!

thanks kinlayan.
The Uv was only to help the achilles get rid of a bit of whitespot. Some will see my equipment setup and it will look too cheap for their liking. However My interest is purely in the top half... I buy and plumb in equipment to do a job behind the doors only, I spend my time changing water - the simplest and cheapest way Ive ever found, not to mention since I started doing 50%, Ive had explosive coloration and growth, plus no algae build up, favourable responses from corals, and gained the ability to keep dendronepthya. I have had these for 4 months so far. I dont know whats in the new water, but whatever is, is in their favour. I get the water with a fire pump, and its unfiltered, flowing through my system within a few hours of collecting. I dont really see parasites as a risk when collecting the water. Its quite clean here. The calcium is always around 400, dkh around 7, magnesium around 1000. al Last edited by ACRO AL; 04/25/2012 at 06:04 PM. |

The purple queens are the latest addition to the system. I have had them for 9 weeks.
They were hand collected on Great barrier reef on a sunday, and air freighted to me on the wednesday. In my tank within a few days of collection. They only saw tiny things that moved... ate nothing except daily hatched artemia for 6 weeks, (8 grams of eggs a day at that!) slowly dripped through the system throughout the day, and in the last few weeks they are sampling brine and mysis, but not much of it. They seem like quite tough fish in terms of whitespot and holding their ground - IF they eat... |

thanks mkbtank, elliot, dave540, and ricardo coelho.
50% change a week - unbeatable. I feed 2 sheets of nori, 10 cubes of brine/mysis, and a handful of spectrum every day. Nutrients zero - zilch - nothing - same as the seawater. |

Thanks reggaex, borg, jarederaj,nyknicks4412, rpjaws74, and pgr11.
The sand is 7 months old! The sicce pumps keep it lightly dusting ontop of itself just in the right random way to keep algae buildup at bay. I take my tank very seriously, and I would regret the outcome of an intruder in the yard. Heres where I get water, google earth it.: 32° 8'10.76"S 115°44'44.33"E |
