Smile DIY Iron supplement

I know that it has been overly discussed the types of DIY iron supplementation for macroalgae and the most recommended tablet is Fergon, but not easily available in UK. So there is this Ferrous Gluconate 300mg (= 35mg elemental iron) tablet which also contains : microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, crospovidone and magnesium stearate.
Is this safe to use in reef aquarium? I could not find any info regarding povidone or crospovidone.

Much appreciated.

To Reef Central

I am not sure, but I suspect that it'd be safe enough. I'll try to do some more research here.

The povidone probably isn't much of an issue. I will do a bit more research on the crospovidone.

I suspect that the tank will be okay given the small dosing rate, but I would watch the tank for the first few doses. Crospovidone doesn't appear to be much of an issue, either.

You can use Iron supplements meant for fresh water planted tanks. Cheers!
