Kryptonite Candy Cane

I love this coral, I just thought I would share a couple of pics. I got this coral a little while back when it only had 3 heads, it is sprouting new heads like crazy.

Before feeding Cyclop-eeze

After feeding Cyclop-eeze

After I feed PE mysis to my fish my candy cane and my acans open up. The scent of the mysis drives them crazy. Usually I feed my candy cane and acans at night when they are always that extended, actually they open up even more at night. Shine a flash light at your candy cane about an hour or two after your lights go out and it should be fully open.

Nice shots! Mine open up like that when I feed the fish, and I feel guilty not feeding them all the time... lol

I really have to start dosing again. I've been doing 2 pwc a week and it seems like all the corals are doing well but some aren't growing too fast. The sps are going crazy though.

I just got one yesterday. It's my first coral. I came across your post last night before bed and so went out and looked at my coral after lights out. Wow! Looked like your first pic. So I fed it some shrimp and was amazed...it ate it! Too cool! Wouldn't have known to go look at it after dark, so thanks for your post.

No problem, that's whats great about this website. When I first started I did not know that it is best to feed corals at night. It wasn't until I read and researched articles on this site that I learned that. I'm glad it helped

so is this when you target feed or when you feed the whole tank. I'm getting fedup with both my candy canes. I just feed Kent chromamax sometimes at night and thats only recently

Wow, what's your secret? I can't seem to find a place in my tank that makes them happy, and am now dealing with receding tissue. I've tried hi and low, lots of flow to no flow. Any placement tips?

They usually open up like that when I feed mysis or other frozen food to the fish. They open up even more at night when the lights are out which is usually when I feed my corals.

I put them in the middle column of my tank with medium flow, they seem to like it there. I have dealt with receding tissue in the past with some of my other LPS and SPS. For me it was a PH issue and unstable parameters. I have everything stable/dialed in as of last October and all of my corals have been taking off with growth ever since.

Thank you, they were taken with my IPhone. It takes better pictures than my digital camera.

I know, I feel the same way which is why I give in and feed them more often now
