sump painted and in place:

got the skimmer out. looks like it needs a good cleaning:

its enjoying a vinegar bath as we speak. been is storage for 1.5 to 2 years.

Hey, cool skimmer stand. Did you put holes in all the supports so crap wouldn't accumulate in there? Was thinking of doing something similar on mine

thanks, yeah thats the idea. works pretty well I used it for about 5 months. awhile ago and its a nice easy skimmer to DIY stand that looks pretty good.

I still will take it out from time to time and clean it if its looking nasty in the PVC..

not much to report expect about 30" of new snow in the 48hrs...so the gonna let the PVC dry more today then later this evening start my fresh water test.

in the mean time I am gonna go enjoy all this snow!

we are about 380" nat about 6500 feet more up high for the season so far.

plumbing done and dried 24 hrs:

skimmer in. it fit with no room to spare, just enough room to take off the cup.

If that's your full siphon line that has the 2 90's, you would be better off if they were 45's. The full siphon works better and starts faster with no horizontal runs.

It'll probably work the way you have it, but if you run into issues, you'll know where to start looking.

yeah I asked around RC and for the full siphon everyone said it really does not matter much at all. sure there might be some loss but not enough to really matter.

but yeah if I have problems some where i know where to look.

did my fresh water test yesterday and it worked great nice and quite.

only thing is I have 2 leaky plumbing parts from the thread cupling that goes in to the bulk head. I cant tighten anymore as it just spins the bulkhead. so I am gonna take apart and re thread with more tape and see if the helps.

Your sump baffles seem a tad high, did you leave enough space to handle back siphon in the event of power failure?

yeah I did, there is still a quite a bit of room 10-15 gal or so I used this sump on my older system with no problem.
my returns will only be a cpl inches below water line. but i will test again.

tested the power out back flow today we are all good on that.

also found some thread sealant oatey's great white. its NSF approved was what every recommended in the DIY forum. so tomorrow I can get back to my build.

Yup Oatey's great white, cheap and very easy to find(think its like 3$ for a smallish bottle. Way more then you need for tank plumbing).

I used this stuff a while back and have never used teflon tape since. It stays malleable(I pulled the gas line off my stove after 10 years and the stuff was still soft), doesn't make threads stick together like other teflon pastes, and with plastic fittings like we use in the hobby, it makes them slide easier for easier tightening. If you do have a leak, just unscrew it, goop it on some more, put you fittings back together and wipe off the excess. No more trying to wrap your fitting in the right direction so it doesn't unroll, no more having to pick the tape out of the threads if you need to take a fitting apart, etc, etc. Just spread on and go.

well today things are moving forward Oatey's great white thread compound did the trick!
take is running quite ( except the the quite one 4000 pump ) and leak free.

just ordered my RB photon V2 in the 24" model...
let the fresh water test run all night and maybe tomorrow depending on what I get in to..
and start making my SW.

Great build going so far! Awesome place to live. I come out there at least 2x a year to snowboard and fish. Rode some of the sickest lines of my life hiking right out of the resort and targhee(hush hush). Was planning to come out next week but the weather has been marginal this year. The snowmobile hill climb is always a blast to watch. Hopefully more snow next year!

HA yeah I know there are some sick lines out here for sure..but high rent prices and the lack of opportunity for the average joe to own a home (so you have have your 10'+ dream tank )
make it somewhat a down side.

oh well we call it property with a view.

yeah right I remember the pump being quite or at least some what so..it's kinda making more than the avenge hum.

just in case I replace it anyone know the noice level of the Jebao controllable pumps?

The jebao's like pretty much all DC pumps are very quiet, they just seem to have a hit or miss thing w/ reliability.
There are quieter pumps than the quiet ones, even a tunze silence or eheim is much more quiet

My jeboa pump is very quiet. I have the dct-4000. I switched from an old Mag Drive. Glad I got it.

just a lil for me...ok ok maybe more than a lil

tank now is drained just gotta clean it again maybe going a water test with well water was not the best idea...there alot of hard water to clean up

but if there was a problem where i had to drain to tank I would have been saying why did I use RODI water...haha
