Question Water storage

Is there any issues with storing rodi water in a can without circulation. I have always had fresh water ready in a brute can in my laundry room however now that I routed my water line and placed my can into a closet near the tank the water has a musty smell. any ideas? do I need to add circulation?

Also I came home today to find my water was starting to look cloudy. I have never had cloudy water but this tank has also never been crystal clear. my immediate thought was water change but all I have is musty water.

I use stand pipes in my overflows. it seems to be allowing detritus and food to accumulate at the bottom. any ideas?

Take rigid tubing (1/4' - 3/8") & suck it out on a water change.

You could also stop circulation & pull the pipe for a toilet flush.

I suspect that being in the closet is encouraging a bit of microbial growth. I wouldn't worry all that much. If the RO/DI is mixed into saltwater, the mixing process will aerate it. If it's used as ATO, the doses should be small enough to be safe.

why do you think being in the closet is making that change? I have always kept the lid on the can during storage

I'm not sure, but maybe the air circulation is lower, or the humidity is higher.

Probably air circulation. The smaller air mass in the closet without the circulation gets to a certain critical water vapor to allow just the least bit of mold or something. Your nose is good at picking up those smells.
