Reducer at the bottom of a durso?

Is this really necessary? I've got two 1 1/4 drains on my new setup and lots of left over pvc. Do I need to but a bigger size for the dursos or can I just use the pipe I have and skip the reducer? Thanks

Well I built the dursos out of 1 1/4 annnnnd they wouldn't fit into my overflows. I ended up just cutting a straight pipe and putting it in a couple inches below the overflow teeth and it is nearly silent (I also had to turn down my return pump a little). Any problems with that design??
