BAR Dana riddle

I've read her online article about how UV is the coral pigmentation equivalent of the melanin in our skin.

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2195062

I unfortunately will be missing this.

Since I haven't paid my BAR membership this year they blocked me out of all the goodies on their site so I don't visit that site anymore. This is the first year they do this which is a shame. It's too long of a drive for me to attend the meetings but I do like to get involved and have disscussions with the BAR BOD once in a while.

This could be a very informative lecture and a chance to "shed some light" on how light affects coloration from someone who has studied it scientifically, and not just some Bozo stating "move it up if its brown".

Should I be able to attend, would anyone be interested in carpooling?

Will be good background for rapid led if we have them come up for the DIY LED meetup.

Glad you guys are excited about Dana Riddle's visit! Since this is considered a general meeting, there are no entry fees and you don't need to be a BAR member to attend - everyone is welcome! However, since BAR does pay to bring a speaker to the SF Bay Area, if you could see fit to help us defray some of the costs by purchasing raffle tickets, IC gel, a BAR T-shirt, or even contribute the $20 for BAR membership, it would be much appreciated! Being a BAR member makes you eligible to participate in our September frag swap, and we love having members who are also WCR members. That said, it is absolutely not necessary to make a monetary contribution to attend, so please don't let that deter you from coming out to Chabot.

Unfortunately I am out of town for Dana's visit, so I won't be able to welcome WCR personally, but please do introduce yourselves to our members and board.

AFAIK only the "Buy, Sell, & Trade" and "Club Business" sub-forums on the BAR website are restricted to active members. If you're blocked from any of the other goodies, please PM me with your BAR handle and I will investigate into it!

I am blocked from DBTC(which I used to contribute and I think I am one of the last one that still has the original Darth Maul chalice), private messaging, all the vendor's postings and I don't remember what else. All the messages that I had conversation with Simnolecpa (Bryan) and; (Tube rider) Jeremy; and others have all been deleted.

Please be assured that your private messages have NOT been deleted. You are correct - PMs, along with DBTC, Sponsor Forums , Buy Sell & Trade, and Club Business areas of the BAR forum are accessible only to current active members - this has been the case for some time now and was not a recent decision. Your old PMs will be viewable should you become a member again.

I am sending you a PM here on RC so we can clear up any misunderstandings. Cheers!

Thank you Romanesco Cauliflower man. We here in wine country prefer that Tom be happy.

Aquanut, you are welcome. I have room for maybe one more.

Great. Perhaps we could work out meet up location (Your house?) and time in PM?

I would find the meeting very helpful for setting the best LED ratio for sps corals. I'm in. Anyone have an extra spot in their car?

Technically it's romanesco broccoli, but you get partial credit.

Your ID is better than most. A few people have told me the avatar looks like a STD...

Yozer, the last spot is yours.

Grant, Nut and Yoz, let's plan to meet at my house that day an hour and a half or two hours before the 1pm show time. We can firm up closer to the event.

latte, thanks for the correction.
