New Tank!
So I have had a 75 gallon fresh water tank for years and It was time to make an addition. I got a 40g tank now that I've had live rock in for a few weeks. Im using a Fluval C3 as a filter and I've got great lighting for my tank size. Im using the Current Orbit Marine Pro 24. One thing I've been really trying to figure out is if I will need a protein skimmer for a tank this size and if so which one can I get that would fit it without being overkill. I've done a lot of research online and Its really hard to tell which are the best. Always mixed reviews.
I currently only have 2 clown fish in the tank. I've been testing daily or every other day the water quality. I've got the API master Saltwater and Reef test kit. So far everything looks great and I'm getting ready to try a coral or two just to see how they do. I can post pictures later today when I get home from work. I would also like to know when I will get more colorful growth of Algae on my Live rock. One of the rocks seems like its almost peeling and has clear flakes it looks like growing on it. I also have a piece that previously had purple algae on it that I got from my high end aquarium store. I've been using Kent Purple Tech as well to help bring up my Calcium and hopefully promote spread. And tactics I can use on getting that beautiful purple spread out? |
