Fibergrate stands

I volunteer in two public aquariums and both use fibergrate for all of their behind the scenes stands. It seems to be strong, easy to work with, light-weight and super durable. Has any one built or considered building DIY stands with fibergrate? If not, is it simply a cost issue or supply issue?

Thanks,

Jackie

This is interesting and looks like they got a distributor in west Chicago. No to far for us nw in boys but not sure how it would go together?
How did it look when you saw it? Like square tubing ?

It's great stuff, but VERY expensive, especially if you need anything over 1". Treated lumber is going to be much cheaper.

The fibergrate (basically a 1" deep square mesh made out of fiberglass reinforced plastic that is molded in one piece) forms the top of the stand and the support structure is made up of dynaform ISO (kind of like fiberglass angle iron) that is bolted together.
