Black capped basslets are nice. Have you made up your mind about sand? I ask because I think sand dwelling wrasses in the genus Helicores (spelling) and Macropharyngodon are often great for pest control in sps tanks; known predators of red bugs, aefw and monti eating nudis... they do not eradicate pests but they can keep their populations in check. I would consider adding some sand in a shallow container behind the rock work.
At this point. NO Full Tank SANDBED 100. I've been pretty sure about that for a long time after removing the Sand from OLD Tank.

Maybe down the road a Small Bed of Sand in some well protected Cave or something.

Improved Plumbing (External OVERFLOW) Flex Hose and All Pressure Tight Fittings (no glue/No Silicone)

I fooled around with all kind of ways, and Finally arrived with the Best Choice.

Everything is SUPER SNUG Tight so I don't need any glue/silicone to make WaterProof Seals. (Maybe a bit of Self Bonding Silicone tape around Lower Flex Hose).

Made to TWO Vertical PVC pipes (so top one can slide up and down for about 1/2" adjustment) Or new Piece could be cut.

ALL Black so limits Algae Growth.

OVERFLOW COMPLETED (Silicone Tape)

I opted out on the Compression Fitting CAP (Threaded Part), and went with Self Bonding Silicone Tape.

Moving on....

T5 Lighting Fixture (BLACK, WHITE, or WOOD) ?????

I only Stain/Sealed One Wood Strip (BLACK) for the T5 Fixture.

I can't color the WHITE Endcaps, so not sure it BLACK will be best look.

With Reflector on BLACK isn't too bad.

Maybe WHITE will be better. Might try that, this wood is pennies.

Not sure, however Black would match the Tank Color.

GOING BLACK (Works Well In Sump Room above Tank) CONTRAST

After Light Sanding/painting 1st Strip with 2nd Coat T5 Strip Fixture Looked better (Slicker with Reflective Nature of Polyeurathane kicking in SEEN IN LEFT MOST STRIP).

I tried the Sample Black Strip Above Tank with White background Wall appears better than a white fixture.

CURTAIN CLOSING ( All READY for Final Sump Room Build ) Phase

So the Sump room is RAW Ready to go for the final RE-ASSEMBLY.

Doesn't look pretty but it's ready.

All bits and pieces of everything have been presented.

You all get the feeling of what the Sump Room will look like.

So I think it's best I DRAW THE CURTAIN CLOSED and spare everyone the gory boring details.

See you soon. For the SUMP ROOM GRAND OPENING.

Things are going really fast. It's all in my head right now and will come together in bits and pieces (with adjustment along the way).

Small delay on the Lighting (Supplier shipped wrong Reflectors, and 3 endcaps missing).

HOPING the Curtain will go up by Friday, or later in the Weekend.

Just the Sump Room. I don't think I'll start up Tank with Fish and Rocks till done.

Thanks.
The SUMP room is NO PEEKING, but Thread is still open on side topics.

I'm still stuck on if I should JOIN the TWO TANKS, or Just Active NEW TANK on Sump (30Gal of Old Water).

I know you said it doesn't matter with NO Corals.
But I'm thinking (Toxins: things I want to get rid of) and (Biology: What I want to keep).

I figure the Sump and Live Rock will bring plenty of Biology into the system.
Water Column will catch up. AND I have a 1/2 bottle of Zeobak to Seed the system.

SO I'm leaning toward 110GAL of New Water, and 30 Gallon of OLD Water in Sump (FOR THE NEW SETUP STARTUP).

If the 110 make you feel good, do it!
Gotta feel good sometimes in this hobby..
And I understand the desire to blow a big breath of fresh air into the system

Yes, that is my Gut feeling. Just to avoid any "what if's" or Eliminate any HISTORICAL negative consequences. (for CORALS)

I plan on more fish ASAP to have more nutrients for the long run. So things will ramp up on all Water Parameters including Biology before any NEW SPS Corals go in.

I love your wording "BREATH OF FRESH AIR". So appropriate.
I'm was thinking getting rid of "The Bad Gas".

I assume Dipping each BARE-CORAL-FREE rock before Transfer over in BAYER is not needed (or maybe I should?).

For sure dipping all new SPS coming in eventually.

I will be most likely breaking ONE CARDINAL Rule.
I won't be doing "LONG TERM" QT on First FEW new Fish. Just a couple of weeks to see if healthy and eating.
(Reason is I will have a 2nd QT Tank to extract any fish (Easily),
.....or even all fish to treat them....Since No Corals in Either Tank)
I know Sensei would be upset at me for suggesting this.
Maybe when I get a beautiful new fish I may change my mind.

I hope your not getting any damsels to help cycle the tank? FYI, I would highly suggest you keep marble floors out of the sump room. They are very slippery when wet.

Marty

Marty,
Funny. My other Kitchen tank is only Blue Green Chromis which I believe are Damsel Family. Jerks. Started with 8, now only Hage 3 HUGE ONES left over, since they killed each other off.

I did save one Blue Green since it wasn't allowed to eat by the others.
Even named (George III) him since he is special (3rd Life) and will be coming to NEW TANK, along with his friends.

New Tank will start with these coming over from OLD TANK.

Thanks for the SLIPERLY MARBLE TIP. Have something better planned (clue provided)

Definitely don’t dip rocks in bayer.. that would kill everything and without coral in there, there aren’t any corals pests to worry about anyways.

Thanks for confirming what I thought would be a bad idea.
The Rocks are key for retaining healthy biology (especially with the Massive Water Change of brining New Tank Online).

Marty,
Thanks for the compliment.

Glad this flood and tank thing happened during winter. Progress wouldn't be the same if it was spring/summer.

It has hard been work (worn down after 3 months), but I really feel the end coming and my motivation is perking up (the creative side is much more interesting....I hated the tear down stage).

Today I painted the bottom half of the Sump Room, and it's starting to look really freshened up.

Still a TON to do....ON SCHEDULE for FRIDAY/SAT * Curtain Rise / GRAND OPENING *

Then the real fun begins Setting up the TANK. Can't wait (same for fish waiting)

(Invisible and Almost Silent VIA CONDIUT Deck COLUMN ) First Floor Kitchen Tank Plumbing
Installed in BASEMENT SUMP ROOM and running.

My vision for this actually worked and is pretty nice.

Big Step Forward towards SUMP ROOM COMPLETION.

SUMP ROOM Photo Update (LAST SNEAK PEEK) Post Kitchen Plumbing Conduit Work

Here is a photo where things are. (I said 8 hours re-plumb new hoses [Return/Drain] , but it took about 14 to complete the plumbing with Drywall Box work)

Things will look much more different after I paint, so this colorful panel look is very revealing.

The was before the upgrade.

This shows exactly how that idea works.

Not giving away the final look, but gives you an idea how the Upstairs Kitchen Tank's (wiring and plumbing is now tucked away and hidden into the DECK Fence Post)
